When drain lines plug sewage often back flows into the basement area. Depending on the amount and the severity, professional cleanup services might be a good idea.
The health concerns resulting from black water, gray water, need to be taken into consideration when cleaning up after a sewage mishap.
Cleaning and disinfecting remain the primary steps for sewage cleanup. However, thoroughly drying the effected area should also be considered. Obviously, soft goods like carpeting and cardboard boxes should be discarded.
Most of my staff agrees we just as soon never see sewage again. But as we all know sewage is here to stay!
